As parents, I think almost everyone can relate to the challenges of finding good medical providers for our children. For my family we’ve had challenges with finding quality dental care, especially for my son with extreme fears, sensory issues, and autism. When we finally brought our son(nine years old) to Every Kid’s Dentist, it was literally the best experience he’d ever had at a dentist. The office consists of private patient rooms that offer a quiet, peaceful environment, free of overstimulating sounds and lights. Our previous dentist office was a setting with multiple patient chairs lined up next to each other in one large room with multiple kids being worked on at once. When the dentist came in, he was so patient and understanding of my son’s autism. He knew exactly how to talk to him and work through the nerves and really let my son know what was happening each step of the process. He took his time going as slow as my son needed, and never pushed him too far. When my son was ready to be done, he immediately set down his tools and said ok. He also set us up for a “sensory appointment” three months later as opposed to a regular visit again in six months to really help get him used to being at the dentist. A few weeks later (today), I brought my younger daughter with autism (three years old) in to see him today for her appointment and it was another incredible experience. The dentist let her hold the tools and let her help with everything. We had a really hard morning and I just didn’t think she was going to tolerate a stranger in her mouth but he really was great with her. She also even did X-rays! I guess here, they start them at a young age to get kids used to X-rays, which I loved. Not to be dramatic, but it really feels life changing and a relief to find a dentist that is so good and knowledgeable with my kids needs. It’s one less medical thing I need to worry about. It’s such a weight off my shoulders to know they have good dental care now. If your child has autism, of if they struggle and need extra accommodations, I would definitely recommend Every Kid’s Dentist!
